Hikers can tackle the fells straight from the doorstep. Or just sit back with a glass of wine and watch the wildlife from your private garden. And when the kids finally go to bed? That's when the private hot tub really earns its keep. Nothing beats sinking into those bubbles while stargazing - unless it's doing so with someone else's spouse. I'm kidding! Sort of.

The accommodation is genuinely impressive. A ground floor king-size bedroom with nearby shower room. Upstairs, the master bedroom boasts a super-king bed and en-suite bathroom. Three more bedrooms - one king-size and two super-king zip-and-links that convert to twins - give you total flexibility. Two separate lounges mean the teenagers can watch Sky TV while adults enjoy the wood burner.

Bowness is just a short drive away (10 minutes) with its shops and The World of Beatrix Potter (15 minutes). Ambleside (20 minutes) offers even more dining options. Grizedale Forest (25 minutes) provides excellent mountain biking trails. Wray Castle (30 minutes) makes a fantastic day out with its mock-Gothic architecture.

Watermead hits the sweet spot for luxury group stays. The multi-level decking, gas BBQ and spacious garden create the perfect setting for making memories. Who needs hotels when you've got all this?

Wow, what a lovely place! We stayed there with my family and eight of us fit comfortably in the spacious house. The location is perfect - close enough to everything but feels miles away thanks to the huge, pretty grounds. It really felt like a home away from homeand we were all pretty sad to leave. Our dogs had a blast too, running around in the secure, fenced area. Plus, it's super close to the lake, so the kids could easily go paddle boarding. Honestly, we wouldn’t hesitate to come back - loved it!

We loved this big lakeside house in Windermere - so peaceful and well kitted out. The area is stunning and super quiet, perfect for relaxing. Be careful of the cheeky badger that raids the bird feeder! Cooking on the Aga takes some getting used to, but it’s part of the charm. We had an amazing week and would definitely return!
